Volunteer Opportunities

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for Salem-Keizer Public Schools! The time parents and community members devote to our students is what helps make our district great. Volunteers are needed all year long for opportunities like:

  • Chaperoning field trips
  • Classroom help 
  • Mailings
  • Bulletin boards
  • Library shelving
  • Working at Book Fairs
  • And many other areas!

Volunteer Application & Background Check

For the safety and security of our students, staff and community members, all volunteers must complete a background check prior to volunteering.

If you're under 18 and interested in volunteering with younger students, we'd love to have your help!

Please complete a student volunteer application and background check form, then return it to your teacher, school office, or a school administrator.

Adult Volunteers

The fastest and most secure way to start volunteering is to apply online. Your information is kept confidential and will only be accessed by authorized district staff.

If you prefer, you're also welcome to submit a printed adult volunteer application to Human Resources. Please keep in mind that processing paper applications may take a few weeks.

Volunteer Trainings & Manuals

Salem-Keizer Public Schools provides training to contractors, employees, and volunteers on the prevention, recognition, and reporting of child abuse and sexual conduct. Please review these materials before volunteering with the district.
